Welcome to International Programs

We bring two groups of outstanding mid-career Fellows to the U.S. annually for an intensive, individually designed program in the Fellows' professional fields. The Multi Nation Program (MNP) is the flagship EF program and dates back to 1954. At that time, Fellows came to the United States for almost a year. Today, the MNP provides intensive seven-week fellowship experiences each spring for individuals from approximately 22 countries.

In the fall, EF conducts one of several program options. Single Nation/Single Region Programs (SNP/SRP) provide fellowships for 20-22 Fellows representing a range of professions from a single country or region. These allow EF to take great strides toward a critical mass of Fellows who can collaborate in making an immediate and measurable impact within their country or region. First launched in 2007, the Common Interest Program (CIP) combines the stimulating geographic diversity of a Multi Nation Program with an intense focus on a common theme. To date, these programs have focused on diverse themes such as challenges of urbanization, energy and the environment, and women's leadership.

In all of the above programs, the primary selection criterion is demonstrated excellence. Once selected, international Fellows work in conjunction with experienced Program Officers to develop individually tailored programs that take them to 6 – 8 cities around the U.S. for anywhere from 50 - 60 meetings, site visits, and other activities. In addition, the Fellows participate as a group in opening and closing seminars in Philadelphia and a mid-program retreat at the Grand Canyon. These activities provide a unique opportunity for the exchange of ideas among Fellows and are critical in developing a sense of camaraderie, trust, and group identity.
