In 2009, Leland Cheung was elected to the Cambridge City Council. With a B.S. in Physics, B.A. in Economics and an M.S. in Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering from Stanford University, he is now pursuing degrees at Harvard's Kennedy School and at MIT Sloan. After graduating he began as a Rocket Scientist for Space Adventures, a company that was famous for successfully sending private citizens to the International Space Station. He also worked at a private venture capital firm and at the U.S. Department of Energy's ARPA-E. In his current capacity as City Councilor, Mr. Cheung serves as the Chair of Economic Development and University Relations Committees for the city of Cambridge, Massachusetts. Mr. Cheung also serves on the Governor's Asian American Commission and the Board of the Massachusetts Technology Collaborative. On his fellowship he plans on exploring how the technology hubs in Europe have grown successfully and gain a comprehensive understanding of the challenges they faced.

Jeff Frazier is the Senior Director of Global Public Sector for Cisco Systems. His group, IBSG, is Cisco's strategic advising and consulting arm. He advises policy groups, industry organizations, and national and international governments on technology innovation, modernization, and strategy related to the public sector. Mr. Frazier has dedicated most of his life to serving public purpose. He began his public service in 1989, first as a police executive in municipal government and then as a Special Agent in the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). At Cisco, he brought his public service and executive experience to the international markets. Mr. Frazier has worked with a number of government and business leaders around the world, including Europe, the United States, South America and Central America. Mr. Frazier plans to travel to Australia and Korea to better understand the impact of technology modernization in the judiciary and private financing for the public markets.

Aly Khalifa is Design Director and Owner of Gamil Design, Inc., a consultancy that focuses on invention development in the sporting goods industry. He currently maintains more than 100 active products in the mass market and directs their manufacturing in Asia. Gamil's mission is to combine design, engineering, manufacturing, branding and marketing to be a turn-key solution for new product concepts. The company's clients include Nike, Trek, Li&Fung, Outdoor Products and Panasonic with distribution to Wal-Mart, Target and other leading retailers. Mr. Khalifa created his own brand of tableware products under Gamila Company. He founded Designbox, an innovative collective of more than two dozen design professionals. Additionally he leads an initiative called SPARKcon which is the nation's largest open source creative festival. On his fellowship to China and China (Taiwan), Mr. Khalifa plans to expand and create partnerships in manufacturing between China and the U.S.

Serving as The Boeing Company's Director of Procurement Financial Analysis, Carol Hibbard is responsible for all Supplier Financial Analysis associated with Boeing's Defense, Space and Security organization, a $32B company. Ms. Hibbard joined Boeing in 1996, and most recently served as the F/A-18 International Business Manager before assuming her current role in August. Before joining The Boeing Company, Ms. Hibbard worked for the U.S. Government in the Department of Defense where she was an operations research analyst, performing financial management analysis to support the acquisition process for major weapons systems in the Air Force and United States Navy. Ms. Hibbard also serves on the board of the Society of Cost Estimating and Analysis, through which she works to promote and develop future leaders in finance. On her fellowship to the European Commission, Finland, and Sweden, Ms. Hibbard will seek to learn from women leaders in government, education, and business to enhance the representation of women in leadership roles in the United States.

Johnson-Huston is an unlikely success story. Born into poverty, she was homeless at age 9 and had little hope for a bright future at age 18. With hard work and strong conviction, she was a successful law school graduate by the age of 30. In 2004 she graduated from Temple University with a law degree, an advanced law degree in taxation, and an M.B.A. Ms. Johnson-Huston is an award-winning young attorney and frequent motivational speaker, sharing her story of overcoming a life of poverty and homelessness to achieve her dreams. She is now an Assistant City Solicitor for the City of Philadelphia where she is responsible for prosecuting tax cases before the Tax Review Board and Court of Common Pleas. During her fellowship to India and Sri Lanka, Ms. Johnson-Houston wants to focus on how India is trying to stop the cycle of poverty.

As Assistant Commissioner for the Massachusetts Department of Agricultural Resources, Nathan W. L'Etoile is responsible for the oversight of its four divisions: Agricultural Markets, Animal Health, Crop and Pest Services, and Agricultural Conservation and Technical Assistance. In this role, he provides leadership to ensure that the four divisions are coordinated in their delivery of services as well as their approach to policy that governs the work of farmers, fishermen, and foresters in New England. In addition to his work in government, Mr. L'Etoile assists on his family's 300-acre sod, small grain and hop farm in Northfield, Massachusetts. On his fellowship to the Philippines and China, he will seek to understand how these countries are working to balance conservation and the utilization of natural resources.

As a seventh generation farmer, V. Larkin Martin manages the daily operations of 2 family owned businesses. Martin Farm, the active farming business, raises corn, cotton, wheat, soybeans, canola and sesame on approximately 7,000 acres of rented and owned land in northern Alabama. The Albemarle Corporation is a family business with real estate and equipment assets, primarily involved in agriculture and forestry. She has sought to bridge the communication gap between farm and non-farm audiences through her work on a variety of past and present boards including the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta, The Alabama Chapter of the Nature Conservancy, The Cotton Board and Leadership Alabama. On her fellowship to Kenya and Turkey, Ms. Martin will seek to understand how the agricultural production and marketing challenges in these countries are similar and how they are different from those in the United States, as well as how public policy impacts agriculture in these regions. She hopes to use what she learns to continue to increase communication and collaboration between farm and non-farm audiences as she works towards solutions to meet the nutritional demands of a growing global population.

As Chancellor of Rutgers University Camden, Wendell E. Pritchett has focused on growing what is already a strong academic institution with world class faculty and great students into a regional leader for interdisciplinary education and civic engagement. He has worked to create programs in areas such as Childhood Studies and Public Affairs that match the needs of the city and the region, and has created mechanisms to build the capacity of the Camden school district and the Camden city government. Dr. Pritchett's approach to urban development has been cultivated throughout his career as a lawyer, working for U.S. Congressman Thomas M. Foglietta, as the Deputy Chief of Staff for Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter, and working for almost a decade as a leader of Community Legal Services of Philadelphia, the area's pre-eminent legal reform institution. Dr. Pritchett has recently been appointed by the Mayor of Philadelphia to serve on the School Reform Commission, which is responsible for the oversight of the School District of Philadelphia, the eighth largest school district in the nation. On his fellowship to Brazil, Dr. Pritchett will develop a comprehensive understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing Brazilian institutions of higher education.

Andrew Stober is proud that his work as Chief of Staff in the Mayor's Office of Transportation and Utilities (MOTU) touches the daily life of every citizen – from the most privileged to the least resourced. As Chief of Staff for the MOTU, he is responsible for the on-street transportation network, sanitation and recycling, the Philadelphia International Airport, the Philadelphia Water Department, the city's energy policy, and the city's relationships with owners of significant infrastructure. Mr. Stober has secured tens of millions of dollars in grants for City transportation projects, reestablished the City's energy office, led key bicycle, pedestrian and transit initiatives and serves as a spokesman for the Mayor on transportation and energy issues. During his fellowship, Andrew will travel to Australia, and China (Taiwan) to study different approaches to managing urban transportation systems and infrastructure and the development of waste to energy projects.
